Welcome to #IceCreamWeek! Kim of Cravings of a Lunatic and Jen of Juanita’s Cocina have teamed up with more than 20 of their blog friends to bring you a week full of ice cream treats! Prepare to have your taste buds tempted with some of the best ice cream treats around!
Ice cream is the sweetheart of summertime around the world. In India, a mixture of cold condensed milk, sugar, saffron and cardamom called kulfi is served. In Israel, halva ice cream incorporates the popular Israeli candy made with sesame seeds, sugar and honey. And of course, there’s creamy gelato from Italy. Gelato is slightly denser than American ice cream but it contains the same milk and heavy cream used in many American ice creams. (Don’t repeat this to your Italian friends. I’ve read that Italians resent any comparison to American ice cream. Oh, well.)
The Ninja Baker's Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream
Matcha green tea ice cream stirs up sweet memories of living in Japan for me. The dessert is not readily available in the US. However, thanks to my ice cream maker I can whip up matcha green tea ice cream anytime. I’m sharing my recipe today so you can experience the pleasure of this exquisite ice cream. The secret to the recipe is to use premium matcha powder. (Just like chocolate the better the quality, the better the taste.)
Confession: I am grateful that my husband is not a green tea fan. Because it means more for me! Creamy, smooth and a clean taste of matcha green tea, this ice cream is sooo good!
